Regis is great to me mainly because of four things. These things are extracurricular activities, availability, faith, and most of all the community. Not all schools can provide all of these.
Extracurricular activities are amazing at Regis. I can’t think of an extracurricular activity that I want to do that Regis doesn’t have. Regis even sets aside part of the school day every week so you can explore a class you choose. I am involved in many activities, including FTC, show choir, combo, jazz band, and student council. FTC helps to teach you how to be part of a team. It also teaches you mechanical and software knowledge. Student council helps to teach you how to plan. Combo and jazz band help teach you musically. Show choir helps you physically and also teaches you how to be part of a team. Besides teaching you valuable life skills, they are also a lot of fun. I am very glad that Regis provides these activities. Without them school wouldn’t be the same.
Regis also has many things available to us students. This year both seventh and eighth graders get IPads. These devices give us access to learning more efficiently and being more organized. Not all schools can provide that for everyone. Regis also has a great library with tons of books available to students. If you don’t have an instrument, the school can help provide one so you can still be in the band. In FTC we are always needing new parts. The school gives us a budget so that we can make our robot with the right parts. All these things that the school provides helps us to learn and have fun.
Faith is a thing that not many schools provide. It is wonderful that we get the chance to deepen our faith with God while still learning. We get the chance to go to mass every week at school. Before every class we get to say a prayer. Regis also helps you keep caught up with confession. Not to mention they also provide adoration. It is great that we can still be in touch with God even at school.
Finally, my favorite part of Regis is the community. It is not hard to make friends at Regis. New kids are always welcomed and treated kindly. I was away at the hospital for a long time and I received a whole folder of get well cards from the seventh and eighth grade band. I also received many emails from various teachers asking how I was doing. The teachers also helped and worked with me to catch up. I also know that everyone at Regis was praying for me. It made me feel better knowing that I had many people praying and thinking of me. That is why Regis is great.
